Dr. Gordon Chen Joins Habitat for Humanity's 6th Annual CEO Build

On Saturday, February 1st, Dr. Gordon Chen participated in his first-ever Habitat for Humanity CEO Build at the BBI Village, joining some of South Florida’s most influential business leaders in constructing homes for families in need. The event, held in Fort Lauderdale, was a remarkable day filled with camaraderie, purpose, and tangible contributions toward solving the critical issue of affordable housing in Broward County.
Among the esteemed participants were Brent Burns of JM Family Enterprises, City Furniture CEO Keith Koenig, and Andy Ansin, CEO of Sunbeam Television. Together, these leaders, representing over 400,000 employees, rolled up their sleeves to help Habitat make dreams of homeownership a reality for hardworking families.
For Dr. Chen, the day was a meaningful experience. "It was inspiring to see so many dedicated individuals coming together for such a worthy cause. The spirit of teamwork and compassion was palpable," he shared. "Habitat for Humanity's mission aligns closely with ThriveWell's commitment to fostering community as a driver of health and wellness. Connection and fellowship are essential for physical, mental, and emotional well-being."
Nancy Robin, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Broward, expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing support from leaders like Dr. Chen. "The need for affordable workforce housing is such a critical issue. Homeownership and the life-changing advantages it represents often get lost. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your amazing advocacy and support to keep the dream of homeownership alive," she states.
A beautiful story covering the build aired on Channel 7 over the weekend, highlighting the importance of Habitat’s work and the community’s involvement.
The Habitat model stands out for its effectiveness in providing a hand-up, not a handout. With families contributing 400 hours of sweat equity and receiving zero-interest mortgages, the program empowers homeowners to achieve stability and prosperity.
For Dr. Chen, the event underscored ThriveWell's core belief that community is integral to health and wellness. "At ThriveWell, we know that fostering meaningful connections and contributing to something greater than ourselves can profoundly impact health outcomes. Habitat for Humanity exemplifies this perfectly," he added.
The CEO Build not only showcased the power of collaboration but also highlighted the strength and resilience of families in South Florida who are transforming their lives through homeownership.
ThriveWell is proud to support initiatives like Habitat for Humanity of Broward that empower individuals, strengthen communities, and promote health and wellness through connection and fellowship.
